Human resources are central to the performance of every economy. In the short-term, the framing of the skills issue is how best to reduce unemployment. Skill mismatches may hinder the return to full employment and slow economic recovery (Makgato,2016). The nation’s need to foster advanced learning in, technology, occupational skills, vocational education, designing and making is a fundamental challenge for education in order to reduce poverty, inequality and unemployment.

- fostering a sense of community of practice in relevant technical and vocational education which promote designing and making;
- promoting research to improve and develop technology, and vocational education in TVET and ACET college sectors in response to current and future technological needs;
- seeking representation in vocational and education and training policy-making bodies;
- organising technology and vocational education and training conferences at which the results of TVET and ACET research can be presented;
- assisting in the development of research skills of people interested in entering the TVET and ACET field, and developing further expertise in that field by means of organizing workshops, short courses and exchange visits;
- providing avenues for local publication of the findings of research in TVET and ACET field
- making research in TVET and ACET available and accessible to policy makers and practitioners;
- building an open forum for debate encompassing different technology and vocational education research paradigms;
- encouraging discussion and research around key issues in technology and vocational education and training ;
- other means as the members in general meeting may determine
